La HERmandad was founded in 2020 by Carrie RavenStem and Adria Sutherland to support the commission and performance of new clarinet duo music, focusing on underrepresented composers and sharing the music of living composers. They made their debut performance at the International Clarinet Association Clareidoscope Festival on April 10, 2021.
The Duo commissioned Jenni Brandon in 2021 to compose a new duo called The Mountain. It received its world premiere at the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest, Lake Tahoe Nevada, in July 2022.
They have been recently invited as guest performers for the International Clarinet Association 50th Anniversary ClarinetFest, which will be held in Denver, Colorado in July of 2023. The Duo will premiere the new work re:CONNECT, a work based on the connections broken during the pandemic, new connection ways created during the pandemic, and the connections we are supporting after the pandemic The work is commissioned with composer Erich Stem.
